i want

had sometime off work to think about some things in life, and realised that there are a lot of things that i seem to want, but possibly, not really need.

2 things come to mind at the moment.

a scooter.

i have always wanted a scooter. ever since i bravely sat on a motorbike meant for 2 that took 3 of us and meandering through the traffic-lightless streets of cambodia, i wanted one. it was something about being able to feel nature against your skin. albeit, it was dust polluted wind, but there was just something about having one of your senses heightened, as you absorb the smells and the sounds that surround you, without being enclosed with the radio blaring and air-conditioning turned up as you would be in a metal box with wheels.

a mac.

i blame it on the influences that i have around in. first my ex-housemate and then my sister. mac fans they are. there is something about owning a mac. the minute someone knows that you own a mac as they do, it as thou they have found a kindred spirit. maybe because my current laptop is not a laptop, as it needs remain plugged it for it to work due to its lifeless batteries. maybe because mac is known to be user friendly, and hassle free. maybe because i want to join that clique of kindred spirits.

do i really need them both?

no.

but, im at a stage in my life where i can afford things that i want, compared to 2 years prior, where i would have to count the minutes on the mobile phone so that i don't pay more then i should during 'yes time'.

still in a conundrum between spending money to buy things that i want versus buying things that i need.

how do you find that balance?
