Yatala Pies

My day started at 03:30AM. On a Saturday morning. Bleary eyed, I awoke to a pre-determined phone call.

"Ya, I'm awake" I crooked.
"Good morning Gwen..." the voice on the other line chirped.

Too early for cheerful morning greetings.

45 mins later, I was found sitting, stiffened and all layered up, at the back of a snazzy black toytota echo flying down the express way, making a beeline for Gold Coast Airport.

Blame the bad weather that led to the deludge of Gold Coast 2 days earlier. Closure of the airport was imminent. 2 friends were left stranded, and Sydney seemed alot more further then before for them.

Student status has given all a cause to be cheap freaks, discounted air tickets are sometimes equivalent to gold. But when piority comes, all that gold, doesn't seem to glitter so nicely as before. Discounted tickets would sometimes also lead to 'discounted sleep' i.e. your rescheduled flight is at an insane hour.

So for the driver, and her V-Com (your's truly), both having just about under 4 hours of sleep shared between both of us...

Driving down to Gold Coast at an insane hour, through thick fog (that me, being the passenger found it all quite fascinating, whilst the drivers were driving all white-knuckled), and staring into the face of death in some instances...it really wasn't 'fulfilling' enough. At least to base it all on altrustic behaviour.

Yatala pies.

Something that Eileen and I both figured would be a rewarding treat, and to give us a good reason for doing what we were doing.

Unfortunately, the managment of Yatala Pies didn't agree.

Instead, they ignored us when we called out behind their thick security steel bars, and their employee(s) seem to have an inadequate peripheral vision. No matter how much movement we stirred outside, nothing worked.

Eileen suggested we moon ourselves...(doubt it would have worked anyways darl, she has poor peripheral vision...it was a she...and she was too engrossed in eating a pie that could have been ours!...)

Was wanting to find out the opening time too much to ask for?

We were still hungry.
