Where is Home?

There have been a few thoughts about my future in the past few weeks. In particular, the plans that I have for upon my graduation.

Australia or Singapore?

Singapore is home, but being away from home for almost 8 years now, have in some way, caused a sense of displacment. Friendships have dwindled...contacts lost...unfamiliarity with the places that I used to know intimately. Yes, family is there, but even so...they are planning to move out or rather...move on!

Australia has been a surrogate mother of somesort. I like the country, but not love it. No attachment of substantial worth has been created. Yes, of course I will miss it when it comes to that, to leave for good. But, home is not here.

Home for me is truly where the heart is.

Home is where my parents are, with the people whom I love. Doesn't matter where. Could be in Timbucktoo (which I recently found out, happens to be a place that does exist, I think...!), and I would still feel at home.

What I have come to realise is, that home is not just the physical aspect of having a roof over your head, or the physcial nearness if loved ones around...but something more, that transcends boundaries of physics.

In a way, its all in the mind. Or rather, in the heart.

My parents know that I love them, and I know that they love me...and it's enough to make me feel at home. I know my friends trust me, and respect me and accept me for the way I am, and its enough to make me feel at home.

With that in mind, I am beginning to see that home for me, doesn't necessarily have to be in physcial closeness with my parents, relatives or friends.

Now...

Would that be Singapore, Australia or somewhere else?

I almost found it difficult to believe that I could fathom the thought of continuing my life somewhere besides a place that I'm familiar with, languages that I understand.

Now, it feels like another door has opened. A door that I may have ignored before.

A seed of has been planted.

Question is, will it grow?
