Reflections
Was being a total busy body and started browsing through the testimonials of people on Friendster. It was a sure fire way of getting myself depressed. Okay, depressed maybe too strong a word. Probably more upset then depressed. Have to say, there are some people out there that really have got their lives going well for them. The testimonials that were written about them by their family and friends, just about makes it seems as though they are perfect. They seem to be the kind of daughter/ son that every parent wants. They seem to be the kind of friend that everyone wants. They seem to be the kind of partner that people are searching for in their lives. Like I said, they seem to have it all. Then I ask myself a very self-centered question. What about me? A friend once told me that I have to learn to stop comparing myself to others, because its just doesn’t do it for one’s mentality. But if we don’t compare, how do we know what we are missing or what we want? I have always had this dream of becoming this certain kind of person. In this dream, I am perfect. Not in the eyes of men, but in my own eyes. I learnt to love myself. I learnt to love all that God has given me and blessed me with. I learnt to use all that He has given me to it’s fullest potential. I am still quite far away from this dream, but am definitely closer to it, compared to 7 years ago. There are still so many aspects of my life that I want to change, and I know that I have to change those bits in my life one day, to bring me to the place where I want to be, where God wants me to be. Will just have to wait and slowly change in time to become all that He has desired me to be. “He will make everything beautiful in its time” Ecclesiastes 3:11 |
